iPhone 16 pro max is going to replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will represent the best of the iPhone 16 series and apple in 2024. According to Ross Young’s road map, which he shared on X, next year’s Apple iPhone 16 will feature a 6.12-inch display while the iPhone 16 Plus will be equipped with a 6.69-inch screen with aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and identical to the current non-Pro iPhone 15 models. In 2025, Young sees some big changes to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus with screen sizes of 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches respectively.
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus will replace the Low-Temperature PolySilicon (LTPS) display with a low-temperature Polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) screen. So the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus will be the first non-Pro models to feature ProMotion 120Hz high refresh rate. Its totally unclear as of now whether it will be 1-120Hz like the current pro models or it will switch between 60-120Hz or 10-120Hz neither we know about the if the AOD is coming to the non pro iPhones with iPhone 17 series. The aspect ratio will also change ever so slightly to 19.6:9 from 19.5:9 according to Young mostly because it will grow in size.
Next year’s iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a bigger 6.27-inch and a 6.86-inch screen respectively with slightly taller aspect ratio to 19.6:9.
According to tipster Majin Bu (via Wccftech), Apple is currently testing a prototype variant of the Phone 16 Pro with a hole-punch cutout instead of the Dynamic Island that we first saw on the iphone 14 pro last year. It would seem to be too early to say goodbye to the Dynamic Island.
For 2025, Ross Young expects the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to replace the Dynamic Island with an under-display Face ID and use a punch hole cutout for FaceTime and selfies not on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Although dynamic island will continue to appear on the non-Pro models that year. And this seems more legitimate because of no other major companies have shown that big interest in under display camera as of yet. But it will be interesting to know more about this in the future.
Tipster Majin Bu has been told that the iphone 16 and 16 plus will have 120Hz display and thinner bezels like the current pro models which will make them very similar to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. But it will continue to have only two rear cameras. At this moment it seems the sensors not changing that drastically as the iphone 15 and 15 plus got the biggest jump in the main camera department yet.
So the refresh rate thing is still confusing at this moment even the leaker said that Some information is not accurate at the moment as the new iPhones are still in the testing phase. So future news will definitely confirm that.
One early report says that the two cameras on the back of the non-Pro iPhone 16 models will be mounted vertically, not diagonally, for the first time since the iPhone 12. Why, maybe to make it look different to the existing models or to make it similar to the iPhone 16 Ultra.
iPhone 16 Ultra (might not replace the pro max) will have three smaller cameras. While the tipster has no idea what the new cameras are for, but it could be because of the vision pro spatial computer which should be released during Q1 2024. The tipster says that U.S. users will have a button that will turn on mmWave mode in the event that you might actually be able to connect your iPhone 16 to a zippy mmWave 5G network.
Apple’s Tetraprism 5x optical zoom camera kit is rumored to land in the iPhone 16 Pro next year, Apple will need more space inside the 6.1-incher to fit the bigger camera module. That’s why the bigger screen will help the phone to have the space for the zoom sensor.
According to MacRumors, the 12MP ultrawide camera will be will be replaced with a 48MP ultrawide shooter next year, which should theoretically allow the iPhone 16 Pro to gather more light and take much higher-quality images when using the 0.5× mode under direct light. The new sensor might also allow the iPhone 16 Pro Max to capture 48MP ProRAW images for more detailed Ultra-Wide shots, really cool. On top of that maybe they will have to have even more better stabilised videos using the ultrawide and main camera together. I mean something cool like that.
According to Economic Daily News (via Apple Insider), is that the iPhone 16 Pro might come with molded glass lenses to slim down that camera bump, reduce some weight. If everything works out the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature the molded glass lenses.
Well-known tipster Revegnus (via Android Authority) that Apple is planning to overhaul its virtual assistant, Siri, using its in-house Large Language Model (LLM). Allegedly, the Cupertino tech giant is gearing up to transform Siri into “ Apple’s most powerful killer AI app.” definitely a big thing cause until now siri has been one of the weakest virtual assistant till now. The tipster reveals that the first ppoduct if that development will be revealed at WWDC 2024.
According to a MacRumors report the non-Pro 16 and 16 are likely to make a big jump in raw power from the iPhone 15’s A16 Bionic SoC to a much more powerful A18 chipset manufactured on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm architecture.
II you don’t know the current pro and pro max come with A17 PRO chipset. Which is very expensive to manufacture and gonna be exclto this year’s pro models But with no “standard” Apple A17 SoC around at the moment, it will certainly be interesting to see how the Apple A18 under the iPhone 16’s hood differs from the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max’s A18 Pro chipset but at least they are not gonna use last flagship’s chipset inside the standard models.
An extra physical “Capture” button aside from the recently announced Action button was mentioned for the entire iPhone 16 lineup including iPhone 16 Pro Maxin a report earlier but once again, it’s far too early to confirm as it might be scrapped before the final tests. Same way we are also hearing Action Button will be capacitive and flush with the side frame. But more news in the future will definitely confirm that as the insiders warn that these developments are still in the prototype stage and Apple has a plan B to fall back to if this doesn’t work out properly.
According to Bloomberg Apple is counting more on iOS 18 to sell the iPhone 16 line – ss definitely big changes coming to the iOS 18. Apple is also focusing on the quality of the software at this stage.
